Trees evergreen, to 15 m tall. Bark dark brown or dark purple, rough. Branchlets purplish green, becoming brown, slender, glabrous; lenticels yellowish, elliptic; winter buds ovoid. Leaves persistent; petiole purplish green, 1.5-4 cm, glabrous; leaf blade abaxially glaucous, adaxially greenish, lanceolate, oblanceolate, or oblong, 8-11 × 2-4 cm, leathery, base broadly truncate, margin entire to undulate, apex caudate, acumen 1-1.5 cm. Flowers unknown. Infructescence corymbose, densely yellowish tomentose. Fruit purple; nutlets strongly convex, 8-9 × ca. 6 mm; wing falcate, including nutlet 2.2-2.8 cm, wings spreading acutely or erectly. Fl. unknown, fr. Sep.
