Perennials 10-30(-40) cm tall. Stems erect, slender, simple, glabrous. Basal leaves petiole 1-3.5(-10) cm, membranous; leaf blade linear-elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, rarely oblanceolate, 2-10 cm × 4-8(-10) mm, base narrowed, margin scabrous, apex acuminate to obtuse, veins distinct. Stem leaves 2 or 3 pairs; petiole 3-5 mm; leaf blade linear to linear-lanceolate, 1.5-3 cm × 3-6(-10) mm, base obtuse, margin scabrous, apex acuminate, midvein distinct. Inflorescences terminal corymbose cymes of 3-5 flowers. Pedicel to 3(-5) cm, slender. Calyx tube obconic, 4-8 mm, entire; lobes triangular, unequal, 5-7 mm, apex acute, sinus between lobes cuneate-acute. Corolla blue, obconic, (1.8-)2-2.5(-3) cm; lobes oblong, 5-6 mm, margin entire, apex obtuse; plicae triangular, 3.5-4.5 mm, 2cleft. Stamens inserted just below middle of corolla tube; filaments 6-8 mm; anthers linear, 2.5-3 mm. Style 4-5 mm; stigma lobes oblong. Capsules ellipsoid. Seeds brown, ellipsoid, 0.8-1 mm; seed coat thick reticulate. Fl. and fr. Aug-Oct.
