Stems to 8 m, much branched, puberulent to glabrous. Petiole 2-6 cm; leaf blade ovate-cordate, 5-12 × 2-8 cm, glabrous except for puberulent abaxial veins. Peduncle 2.5-5 cm. Pedicel longer than peduncle. Sepals ovate, 3 mm. Corolla white to yellowish white, purplish crimson inside, 2-3.5 cm in diam., divided ca. 2/3 way to base; lobes ovate-oblong, 0.8-1.6 cm. Corona ca. 3 mm. Follicles 8-14 × 1-4 cm, glabrous. Seeds ovate, ca. 5 mm, margin membranous; coma 2-3 cm. Fl. Apr-Sep, fr. Aug-Dec.
