狭叶谷精草 xia ye gu jing cao

Leaves 2.5--8 cm, 0.8--1.5(--2.5) mm wide at middle, veins 5--9. Scapes numerous, 10--30 cm, 5- or 6-ribbed; receptacle densely villous; heads brownish to dusky, subglobose, ca. 4 mm in diam.; involucral bracts brownish, suborbicular, 1.6--2 × 1.3--1.7 mm, rigid, membranous, glabrous; floral bracts obovate to oblanceolate, abaxially white clavate hairy. Male flowers: sepals spathelike, abaxially white clavate hairy toward 3-lobed to 3-parted apex; petals 3, oblong, anterior one distinctly larger than others, white clavate hairy, gland borne on 1--3 petals, brownish to black; anthers black. Female flowers: sepals 3, blackish, free, boatlike, not keeled, abaxially white clavate hairy; petals 3, lanceolate-linear, membranous, white clavate hairy, gland inconspicuous; ovary 3-loculed; style 3-cleft. Seeds ovoid, 0.3--0.4 mm; testa hexagonally reticulate, prickles 2--5 per cell, linear. Fl. and fr. Aug--Dec.

* Valleys, pond margins. Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Taiwan, Zhejiang.

This species was treated as a synonym of Eriocaulon nantoense by Zhang (Diss. Bot. 313: 99. 1999).
