贵州凤仙花 gui zhou feng xian hua

Plants annual, 20-45 cm tall, glabrous. Stem erect or sometimes ascending at base, succulent, long naked on lower part, lower nodes swollen. Leaves alternate, often crowded at upper part of stem; petiole 1-2 cm; leaf blade often becoming purple abaxially, dark green adaxially, oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate, 8-15(-21) × 2-4 cm, membranous, setose between teeth, lateral veins 7-9(-11) pairs, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin coarsely crenate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 3-8(-11)-flowered; peduncles ca. as long as or longer than leaves, strict. Pedicels 1.5-2 cm, elongate in fruit, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, ovate or navicular, 6-8 × ca. 3 mm, apex acuminate. Flowers spreading, pink, 4-4.5 cm deep, inequilateral. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: 5-veined, apex incurved, mucronulate, abaxial midvein thickened, narrowly carinate; inner 2: linear, 1.1-1.2 cm × 2-2.5 mm, 1-veined, hyaline, apex curved, mucronulate. Lower sepal red spotted, broadly funnelform, 3-3.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur 1.5-2 cm; mouth oblique, 1.8-2 cm, tip acute. Upper petal elliptic-obovate or suborbicular, 1.2-1.3 cm, apex emarginate, abaxial midvein conspicuously thickened, carinate; lateral united petals ± clawed, ca. 2 cm; basal lobes red spotted, obovate; distal lobes longer, oblong-dolabriform; auricle inflexed, subovate. Filaments linear, ca. 4 mm; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Ovary fusiform, 5-6 mm. Capsule clavate, 2-2.5 cm, (2 or)3- or 4-seeded. Seeds dark brown, oblong, ca. 2.5 mm, smooth. Fl. Jun-Sep.
