Name appeared after publication of the family treatment for the Flora of China.
Related to Arenaria giraldii (Diels) Mattf. in having a fusiform root, and petals toothlike lobed, but differs by having stem with one line of glandular hairs, and petals toothlike 4-lobed, with the lobes being 2-lobulate.
