独龙凤仙花 du long feng xian hua

Plants perennial, with procumbent rhizome and fibrous roots, glabrous. Stem erect or obliquely ascending, green or purple-tinged in upper part, 15-30 cm, simple or shortly branched at middle, naked in lower part. Leaves alternate, subverticillate on upper stem, subsessile or shortly petiolate; petiole to ca. 5 mm; leaf blade gray-green abaxially, sometimes becoming purple, green adaxially, oblong-ovate, or lanceolate, 4-10 × 1.5-2 cm, membranous, adaxially scurfy-strigose on veins, setose between teeth, lateral veins 6-8-pairs, base cuneate, attenuate into petiole, margin densely or coarsely crenate, teeth mucronulate or glandular, apex long acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 1- or 2(or 3)-flowered; peduncles erect, shorter than leaves, 2-4(-5) cm, slender. Pedicels 1-1.4 cm, bracteate at base; bracts persistent, ovate-lanceolate, ca. 3 mm, membranous. Flowers purple, 2-3 cm deep. Lateral sepals 4; outer 2: ovate, 2-3 mm, submembranous, base oblique, apex mucronulate; inner 2: linear, minute, with apical glands. Lower sepal narrowly funnelform, limb ca. 1.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an erect or slightly curved spur; mouth oblique, 6-7 mm wide, tip long mucronulate. Upper petal 5-7 × 5-6 mm, apex retuse, abaxial midvein not carinate; lateral united petals not clawed, 1.4-1.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes spreading, triangular, rounded; distal lobes narrowly lanceolate, longer, apex acute, often retuse; auricle small. Filaments linear, ca. 1.5 mm; anthers obtuse. Ovary fusiform. Capsule linear, ca. 1.5 cm. Seeds many. Fl. Aug-Sep, fr. Oct.
