"The basionym, Begonia maguanensis S. H. Huang & Y. M. Shui, was published in 1994 (Acta Bot. Yunn. 16(4): 338–339) whereas the name B. paucilobata C. Y. Wu was published in 1995 (Acta Phytotax. Sin. 33(3): 275). If the two taxa are conspecific, the name B. maguanensis has priority over B. paucilobata at species rank (and there is no name blocking it, as far as I can tell); if the two taxa are recognized as varieties of a single species, then B. paucilobata must be a variety of B. maguanensis, not vice-versa."
