Herbs or subshrubs, erect, 10-20 cm tall. Stems woody, with elliptic, raised leaf scars; young branchlets curved pubescent. Petiole 3-4 mm, pubescent; leaf blade green, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 2-4 × ca. 1.5 cm, papery, abaxially glabrous, adaxially pellucid hispidulous, midvein raised abaxially, slightly impressed adaxially, lateral veins 3-5 pairs, assurgent, anastomosing near margin, veinlets indistinct, base obtuse, margin entire, apex obtuse, mucronate. Racemes terminal, ca. 1 cm, pubescent, with few, dense flowers; basal bract 1, linear. Flowers ca. 4 mm. Sepals 5, caducous, unequal, glabrous; outer sepals 3, nearly equal, broadly ovate, ca. 1.5 × 1.2 mm, apex obtuse; inner sepals 2, petaloid, broadly obovate or suborbicular, ca. 5 × 4 mm, 5-veined, apex rounded. Petals 3, pink, connate in lower 1/2, nearly equal; keel cucullate, apex with papillate appendages. Stamens 8; filaments ca. 3 mm, lower 5/6 united, forming an open staminal sheath. Ovary obcordate, ca. 1.5 mm in diam., winged; style curved, similarly hooklike, apex expanded tubiform; stigma at lower margin of tube. Capsule obovoid, ca. 4 mm in diam., broadly winged, apex incised. Seeds not seen. Fl. Oct.
