Trees to 8 m tall. Petiole 6-7 cm, glabrous; leaf blade suborbicular, 7-10 × 6-8 cm, abaxially pubescent especially on veins, base cordate or deeply cordate, usually (3 or)5-lobed; middle lobe ovate, apex caudate-acuminate, acumen ca. 1 cm; lateral lobes triangular, margin serrate, apex caudate-acuminate. Samara wings spreading nearly horizontally. Fl. Apr, fr. Sep. 2n = 26.
Mixed forests; 2500-3700 m. S Xizang, NW Yunnan [Bhutan, NE India, NE Myanmar, Nepal].
