Stems diffuse or climbing among shrubs, to 6 m, glabrous or upper parts pilose, 4-angled, glossy, epidermis fragile. Petiole ca. 1 cm; leaf blade 3.5--7.5 × 1--1.5 cm, apex acuminate. Thyrse lax, many flowered. Pedicel 2--5 mm. Sepals narrowly ovate, 4--6.5 mm, apex obtuse. Petals white, lanceolate, 1/3--1/2 as long as sepals, margin entire. Stamens and staminodes short. Ovary globose. Capsule globose, ca. 2.5 mm, shorter than sepals. Seed ca. 1.5 mm. Fl. Apr--Jul, fr. Aug--Dec.

Grasslands on mountain slopes, in open forests; 500--2700 m. W Guangxi, S Guizhou, SW Sichuan, SE Xizang, Yunnan [Bhutan, Cambodia, NE India, Laos, Nepal, Sikkim, Thailand, Vietnam].
