Petiole tomentose when young, but glabrescent when mature; leaf blade always entire. Samara 2.8-3 cm. Fl. Apr, fr. Sep.
The name "Acer changii" (Z. R. Xu, Acta Sci. Nat. Univ. Sunyatseni 1986(2): 100. 1986) belongs here but was not validly published because no type was indicated (Vienna Code, Art. 37.1).
