Herbs perennial, 25--60 cm tall. Stems erect, terete and sparsely pilose in upper part, usually simple. Leaves opposite; petiole 0.7--1.5 cm, narrowly winged, densely strigillose; leaf blade ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 4--8.5 X 1.8--3.5 cm, sparsely strigillose and densely red or dark glandular punctate, base subrounded to short attenuate, apex acuminate; veins 4 or 5 pairs; veinlets inconspicuous. Lowermost 1 or 2 pairs of leaves smaller, elliptic to obovate. Pedicel densely rust-colored pubescent; lowest pedicels 1.5--3 cm, gradually reduced upward, recurved in fruit. Flowers solitary, in axils of apically diminishing leaves, racemose. Calyx lobes lanceolate, 6.5--9 X ca. 1.5 mm, abaxially sparsely pubescent, reddish glandular punctate, especially near margin, costate. Corolla yellow; tube ca. 3 mm; lobes rhomboid-ovate, 7--8 cm, red glandular, margin erose, apex acute to caudate-acuminate. Filaments connate basally into a ca. 3 mm high tube, free parts ca. 3.5 mm; anthers ovate, dorsifixed, opening by lateral slits, ca. 1.2 mm. Ovary pubescent apically; style ca. 6.7 mm. Capsule subglobose, sparsely puberulous, ca. 3.5 mm in diam. Fl. Jul.
