Herbs perennial, 15-25 cm tall. Stems several, cespitose, not branched or branched above, short appressed pubescent. Petiole of lower stem leaves ca. 3 cm; leaf blade oblanceolate to oblong, 2-4 cm, base attenuate, apex rounded to acuminate; upper stem leaves short petiolate or ± sessile, narrowly ovate to elliptic, 1.5-3 cm, base broadly cuneate, apex acute. Inflorescences terminal, to 10 cm in fruit; bracts leaflike. Pedicel 2-5 mm at anthesis, to 1.5-2 cm in fruit, appressed pubescent. Calyx lobes erect at anthesis, divaricate in fruit, lanceolate to linear, ca. 2 mm, appressed pubescent. Corolla blue, campanulate-rotate; tube ca. 2 mm; appendages low trapeziform, slightly surpassing throat, ca. 0.5 × 1 mm; limb ca. 5 mm wide; lobes suborbicular, ca. 3 mm. Anthers elliptic, ca. 1 mm. Nutlets dorsiventrally compressed, ca. 1.5 × 1.3 mm excluding marginal glochids; adaxially protruding, sparsely pubescent; abaxially ovate, slightly convex, minutely hispid, marginal glochids free; attachment scar above middle adaxially, ovate, smooth. Fl. Jul.
