Herbs perennial, 4--6 cm tall, glabrous. Roots fascicled, fusiform, fibrous. Stems numerous, cespitose, slender. Basal leaves in a dense rosette; petiole to 1.5 cm. Stem leaves only 1 pair or absent, petiole ca. 5 mm; leaf blade ca. 1 cm X 3.5 mm, pinnatisect; segments 8--10 pairs, ovate, dentate. Inflorescence few flowered; flowers fascicled; bracts leaflike. Pedicel 4--6 mm. Calyx cylindric-campanulate, ca. 6 X 3 mm, 1/3 cleft anteriorly, glabrous; lobes 5, unequal, posterior one linear and entire, lateral lobes lanceolate, serrate. Corolla tube ca. 3 X as long as calyx; galea falcate; beak bent downward, ca. 6.5 mm, slender; lower lip ca. 1.4 cm wide, lobes rounded, middle lobe slightly smaller than lateral pair. Filaments glabrous throughout. Capsule lanceolate, ca. 2 X as long as calyx, apiculate. Seeds few, ovoid. Fl. and fr. Jul.
