Description from Flora of China
Betula chinensis Maximowicz var. delavayi (Franchet) C. K. Schneider; B. delavayi var. forrestii W. W. Smith; B. forrestii (W. W. Smith) Handel-Mazzetti.
Leaves 3-7 × 2-4 cm; lateral veins 10-14 on each side of midvein. Female inflorescence oblong-cylindric, 1.5-2.5 cm × 7-10 mm; bracts ciliate.
Further studies of material named Betula forrestii are required to better understand its placement.
