Shrubs 1-3 m tall, spreading. Branchlets 4-angled, gray minutely tomentose. Petiole 5-10 mm; leaf blade lanceolate-elliptic, 5.5-13 X 2-4 cm, papery, abaxially pubescent and glandular, adaxially subglabrous, base cuneate, margin subentire to serrate, apex acuminate Inflorescences tight terminal thyrses, densely pubescent; bracts and bractlets lanceolate, to 1.5 cm, margins entire. Calyx 3-4.5 mm, usually 6-lobed, pubescent, densely glandular. Corolla bluish purple, tube ca. 5 mm, lobes ca. 8 mm, pubescent, glandular. Stamens exserted. Ovary pubescent, glandular. Style longer than stamens. Fruiting calyx ca. 6 mm. Fruit subglobose, ca. 4 mm in diam. Fl. Mar.
