Stems often in arclike curves, weakly striate. Involucral bract often curved. Capsule usually globose, apex retuse.
Forests, shaded and wet places on mountain slopes, near ravines, trail sides; 500--1700 m. Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang [Japan, Korea].
