Plants 30--100 cm tall. Leaves 6--10, 2.5--5 cm wide. Inner tepals narrowly linear, 1--2 mm wide, usually slightly longer than outer ones. Filaments 4--7 mm; anthers 5--8 mm; free portion of connective 0.5--1 mm. 2 n = 10*.
Forests, thickets, grassy slopes; 100--2400 m. Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Taiwan, Xizang, Yunnan [Bhutan, India, Nepal, Vietnam].
