Hooker; B. campestris var. napus (Linnaeus) Babington; B. napus subsp. oleifera (de Candolle) Metzger; B. napus var. arvensis (Duchartre) Thellung; B. napus var. leptorrhiza Spach; B. napus var. oleifera de Candolle; B. oleracea Linnaeus var. arvensis Duchartre; B. oleracea var. hongnoensis H. Léveillé; B. oleracea var. pseudocolza H. Léveillé.

Plants annual. Taproots slender, not fleshy. 2n = 38*.

The source of canola oil.

Cultivated. Throughout China [widely cultivated and naturalized elsewhere].
