Description from Flora of China
Terminal leaflets ovate to ovate-orbicular, 3--5.5 × 2.4--4.5 cm, length:width ratio (1--)1.2--1.8(--2.2):1; terminal lobes length:width ratio (1--)1.3--2.4(--3):1. Lateral leaflets ovate to orbicular, 1.8--5.5 × 1.4--4.5 cm. Carpels (2 or)3 or 4(or 5). 2n = 10*.
After publication of the family treatment for the Flora of China, this name was treated as Paeonia rotundiloba (D. Y. Hong) D. Y. Hong (J. Syst. Evol. 49: 467. 2011).
* Sparse Cupressus chengiana forests, young secondary deciduous broad-leaved forests, well-developed thickets; 2000--3100 m. NW Sichuan (valley of Ming Jiang).
