Sect. Viminales (Seringe) Koch.
Trees or shrubs. One-year-old branchlets slender, pilose. Leaf blade linear to lanceolate, oblanceolate, or oblong, margin entire, usually revolute, rarely sinuolate or serrulate; midvein often raised abaxially. Flowering precocious or coetaneous. Catkins oblong to shortly cylindric, shortly pedunculate or subsessile; bracts 2-colored, long white pubescent. Male flower: gland solitary, adaxial; stamens 2, distinct; anthers golden yellow. Female flower: ovary sericeous, sessile or stipitate; style long; stigma 2-lobed or entire.
