Aconitum sect. Lycoctonum de Candolle, Syst. Nat. 1: 367. 1817.
Herbs perennial, rhizomatous. Sepals not clawed; upper sepal cylindric or high galeate, rarely navicular. Petaline limb with secretory tissue at apex, with a saccate or incurved spur; lip usually linear, or very short. Carpels 3(--8).
About 40 species: Asia, Europe, North America; 22 species (nine endemic) in China.
