Plants minute, slender, 3–4 mm high, yellowish green to yellowish brown, in dense tufts. Stems erect, julaceous, simple or rarely branched; central strand weakly developed. Leaves erect, appressed, oblong-ovate, 1.2–1.6 mm long, concave, gradually narrowed to a short, subulate, rounded-obtuse apex; margins entire; costa single, strong, shortly excurrent; upper cells irregularly rectangular to rhomboidal, 20–30 µm × 2.5–3.5 µm; lower cells oblong-rectangular, 40–55 µm × 6–11 µm, thin-walled, hyaline. Autoicous. Perigonia on lower part of stems. Perichaetial leaves convolute-sheathing at base, abruptly subulate above, up to 1.7 mm long. Setae straight, yellowish, 2.5–3.0 mm long; capsules erect, oblong-cylindric, ca. 1.5 mm long; annuli developed, in 3 rows; peristome teeth absent; opercula conic-rostrate. Calyptrae cucullate. Spores reddish to reddish brown, spherical, 15–18 µm in diameter, finely papillose.

Habitat: on soil under forests; Distribution: China, Himalaya, Nepal, and Indonesia.
This species is characterized by its shortly excurrent costa, irregularly rectangular to rhomboidal upper laminal cells, erect, oblong-cylindric capsules, and by its lack of peristome.
