Plants small and slender, up to 10 mm high, yellowish, shiny in dense tufts. Stems erect, simple, radiculose at base, densely foliate. Leaves falcate to secund, lower ones smaller, upper ones larger, up to 5 mm long, abruptly narrowed from a broad, obovate, sheathing base to a long, subulate or setaceous acumen; margins plane, entire or serrulate near the apex; costa stout, long-excurrent, often filling the entire subula, ending with serrulate apex; cells near the shoulder and above narrowly rectangular; basal cells short-rectangular, thick-walled. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves similar to the upper stem leaves. Setae straight, up to 1.5 cm long, slender, yellowish; capsules erect, cylindric, brownish, smooth when dry; opercula strongly obliquely long-rostrate; peristome teeth divided nearly to the middle, reddish brown and vertically striolate below, pale and papillose above. Spores ca. 20 µm in diameter, finely papillose.

Type. China: Donghua Shan (Mt.), between Ning-hua Co. (Fujian Prov.) and Shi-cheng Co.(Jiangxi Prov.), alt. 1400 m, Handel-Mazzetti 318 (holotype H).

Specimens examined: Between FUJIAN and JIANGXI: see the type information cited above. HAINAN: Bawangling (Mt.), C.-H. Gao 25330 (IFSBH, SHM).

Habitat: on soil; Distribution: endemic to China.
