Plants minute to small, 2–5 mm high, green to bright yellowish green, in tufts. Stems erect, simple or sparsely branched, somewhat radiculose below; central strand present. Leaves 1.8–2.8 mm × 0.25–0.35 mm, strongly crispate when dry, flexuose spreading when moist, narrowly lanceolate to linear-lingulate, leaf base clearly narrower, the upper part rather abruptly narrower from the middle, narrowly acute at the apex; margins plane or slightly recurved in the lower half, entire or serrulate near the apex; costa strong, percurrent; upper cells rounded quadrate to hexagonal, 9–14 µm wide, somewhat thick-walled and slightly mammillose; basal cells rectangular, 26–39 µm × 10–12 µm, lax and hyaline, thin-walled. Perichaetial leaves similar to the upper stem leaves. Setae slender, straight, 2–3 mm long, yellowish; capsules ovoid, 0.5–1.0 mm long, clearly 8-ribbed when dry; annuli none; peristome teeth linear-lanceolate, nearly smooth. Spores 13–18 µm in diameter, brownish, warty.
