Plants slender, usually 5–7 mm high, sometimes up to 15 mm high, light yellow, in low or loose tufts. Stems erect, simple or rarely sparsely branched, radiculose below. Leaves soft and thin, flexuose to crispate when dry, erect-spreading when moist, linear-lanceolate, (1.4–)2.0–3.0(–3.5) mm long, tapering to a blunt or acute apex; margins plane, entire except serrulate at the apex; costa narrow, slender, subpercurrent; apical cells rhomboidal to elongate-hexagonal, 35–60 µm × 4–6 µm, thin-walled, sometimes projecting; median and lower cells long-rectangular to linear, 100–200 µm × 10–20 µm, thin-walled, smooth. Autoicous. Setae (5–)10–12 mm long, yellowish; capsules erect, urn ca. 1.2 mm × 0.5 mm, neck well developed; opercula long-rostrate, slightly curved; peristome teeth reddish, up to 0.8 mm long. Spores 15–20 µm in diameter, yellowish brown, papillose.

Type. Sri Lanka.

Chinese specimens examined: HAINAN: Dioluo Shan (Mt.), C. Gao 2819 (IFSBH), Z. He 1277 (KUN). TAIWAN: Ping-tung Co., C.-C. Chuang 904, 912 (UBC), 920 (MO, UBC).

Habitat: on soil; Distribution: China, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Guinea.
