Tortula muralis var. aestiva Brid. ex Hedw., Sp. Musc. Frond. 1801.

Tortula muralis var. aestiva is different from T. muralis var. muralis by having leaf apices broadly acute or mucronate, costa percurrent or just a short mucro, and margins differentiated by yellowish cells.

Type. Europe.

Chinese specimens examined: HENAN: Ji-gong Shan (Mt.), H.-J. Yu 912 (PE). HUNAN: Yue-lu Shan (Mt.), F.-Z. Lu 16 (MO, PE). SICHUAN: Chong-qing City, P.-C. Chen 656 (PE); Xiang-cheng Co., J.-L. Yang 4451 (PE). YUNNAN: Yang-bi Co., Redfearn et al. 26 (MO).

Habitat: on rocks; Distribution: China, Japan, Europe, Africa, North and South America.
