Plants small, 5–10 mm high, yellowish green to yellow, in loose, shiny tufts. Stems short, simple or branched, reddish, scarcely foliate in the lower part, comose foliate in the upper part. Leaves narrowly ovate at base, gradually narrowed to a short subula; costa filling 1/3 of the leaf base width and all of the subula; upper shoulder cells rhombic, 10–14 µm × 6–8 µm; lower shoulder cells short-rectangular, 25–35 µm × 8–10 µm; alar cells not differentiated. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves sheathing at base, subulate above. Setae 2–3 mm long, yellowish to reddish, curved when young, flexuose, sometimes erect when old; capsules ovoid, about 0.7 mm long, smooth or slightly furrowed when dry, without stomata; annuli present, consisting of 1 row of small cells; opercula nearly as long as capsules, obliquely long rostrate; peristome teeth reddish, vertically striate below, finely papillose above. Spores 18–24 µm in diameter, dark yellowish to brownish, warty, with 12–14 papillae per diameter view.

Habitat: on soil in high mountain open fields; Distribution: China, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Indonesia.
