China: Sichuan, Kalaba (Yan-yuan Co.) Handel-Mazzetti 2322 (syntype H); Yunnan, Hokin (Hodjing), Delavay 1648 p.p. (syntype H).

Plants medium-sized, coarse, up to 4 cm high, yellowish green or brownish green, not shiny, in dense tufts. Stems erect or ascending, simple or dichotomously branched, densely foliate and tomentose at base. Leaves falcate-secund when dry, erect-spreading when moist, up to 6 mm long, gradually narrowed from an oblong-ovate base to a slender canaliculate acumen; margins plane and entire below, serrate above the middle; costa narrow, percurrent or shortly excurrent, filling most of the subula, papillose or serrate at back above; upper cells quadrate or subquadrate, moderately thick-walled, mammillose at back above; basal cells elongate, rectangular or linear, thick-walled, porose; alar cells quadrate or short-rectangular, slightly inflated, (1–)2–3 stratose, thick-walled, yellowish brown. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves highly convolute-sheathing at base, abruptly narrowed to a short, setaceous subula. Setae solitary, straight, ca. 1.5 cm long, brownish; capsules erect, cylindric, symmetric; opercula erect, long-rostrate; peristome teeth absent. Spores 20–25 µm in diameter, yellowish brown, nearly smooth.

Type. China: Yunnan, Hokin, alt. 3000 m, Delavay 1648 p.p. (holotype BM).

Specimens examined: SICHUAN: Yan-yuan Co., see the type information of Dicranum handelii cited above. XIZANG: Mo-tuo Co., S.-K. Chen 108(a) (KUN). YUNNAN: see the type information of Dicranum gymnostomum var. hokinense and Dicranum handelii cited above.

Habitat: on bases of trees or soil over rocks; Distribution: endemic to China.
