Trees with broad or acicular and compressed leaves. Branches in regular whorls. Male cones axillary or terminal on short shoots. Female cones subglobose, large, splitting. Scales spirally imbricate, broad or narrow, winged or not.

2 genera and 38 species, mainly southern hemisphere to Indo‑China and Philippines. Represented in Pakistan by 1 genus and 2 species which are cultivated.
