Plants grass-like. Roots fibrous. Leaves linear-lanceolate, radical. Scape slender, naked. Flowers in a spike or a raceme. Perianth 6-cleft. Stamens 6, inserted at the bases of the perianth lobes, filaments short. Ovary half inferior, trilocular, each locule with many ovules. Fruit capsular, many-seeded.
A genus of c. 25 species in N. America and Asia. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
