Characters as those of Colocasia but with the following differences: Plants with well developed elongated rootstocks, basal lobes of leaves acute and basal placentation. Ovules and seeds few.
c. 70 specie, mainly Indomalayan. Represented in Pakistan by 1 cultivated species.
