Perennial, glabrous herbs with entire leaves. Flowers showy, bracteate, in a cinicinni. Calyx 5-partite, accrescent, slightly exceeding the fruit length. Corolla tubular, campanulate, 5-partite, lobes imbricate. Anthers dehiscing longitudinally. Filaments slender, attached near the base of the corolla, dense villous basally. Ovary bilocular, style slender; stigma ± bilobed. Fruit a berry. Seehs many, compressed.
4 species, Mediterranean to the Himalaya. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
