Erect, odorous annual herbs. Leaves long petioled, upper alternate, lower opposite, palmately dissected, 3-11 foliolate; stipules 2, free, lateral, filiform, Plants dioecious: male inflorescence fasciculate, shorter than the leaves, sub-sessile. Achene crustaceous. Seeds with unilateral endosperm, embryo large, curved; cotyledons thick and fleshy.
A monotypic genus with the same distribution as that of the species given below.
