Small annual herbs, branched mostly from the base, erect or suberect, sometimes procumbent, clothed with short stellate hairs. Leaves oblanceolate or linear, small, subsessile or sessile. Racemes lax, ebracteate. Flowers minute, yellowish; pedicel filiform, often recurved in fruit. Sepals equal, not saccate at base. Petals slightly longer than the sepals, narrowly spathulate. Stamens 6; filaments appendaged- dentate; anthers minute, blunt. Lateral nectar glands in pairs, minute; middle absent. Ovary suborbicular or broadly ovate, unilocular, 1-ovuled; stigma subsessile or sessile. Siliculae orbicular, 1-seeded, indehiscent; valves biconvex, usually hairy or asperous with branched and simple hairs, narrowly winged (margined) or not; septum absent or incomplete; seed only 1, suborbicular, pendulous, not winged.
About 10 species in the Mediterranean region, C. and S.W. Asia, and N. Africa; only 2 reported from our area.
