YASIN J. NASIR
Branched prostrate herbs with small alternate leaves. Flowers axillary, whit or yellow. Calyx 4-5-partite, lobes narrow. Corolla 4-5-lobed, tube short, lobe erect. Stamens 4-5, epiphyllous, included. Ovary ± 4-lobed, usually bilocular with 2 ovules in each loculus. Styles 2, terminal, free or adnate, stigmas capitate. Fruit ± dry drupe of 4, 1-seeded pyrenes. Seeds usually exalbuminous.
A genus of 21 species, mostly tropical and subtropical America. Represented in Pakistan by 1 species.
