Plants herbaceous; leaves scattered, linear; flowers hermaphrodite, in few flowered terminal racemes or on lateral branches. Calyx tube urceolate to slender, constricted above the ovary, lower half persistent in fruit. Disc absent. Stamens 8, 2-seriate, rarely exserted. Ovary unilocular, subsessile, glabrous. Fruit dry, enclosed by persistent base of the calyx.
A genus of 2 species: C. Asia, Iran, Afghanistan. Represented in W. Pakistan by 1 species only.
