Herbs or shrubs, sparsely to densely pubescent. Leaves long petioled, with or without lobes, serrate, acute, cordate. Flowers solitary. Epicalyx segments linear, 7-10, free, equalling the calyx. Calyx 5-lobed. Corolla yellow with a dark purple centre, 2-3 times longer than calyx. Staminal column included. Carpels, 5, fused; ovary 5-loculed, each locule with few ovules. Fruit a capsule, with conspicuous, scareous and strongly veined wings. Seeds 2-4 in each cell, sometimes solitary by abortion, glandularly punctate, glabrescent.

A genus with 4 species distributed in the tropics and subtropics of the Old World. 1 species is known from Pakistan.
