A genus of c. 20 species, represented in Pakistan by one cultivated species.
Succulent, rhizomatic perennial. Leaves large, lanceolate or broadly so. concave to almost flat; margin usually toothed or spiny. Inflorescence a large panicle of whitish-pale yellow flowers: Perianth segments 6, spreading. Stamens shorter than perianth; filaments thickened at the base.
