Deciduous shrubs or trees; young branches and leaves softly hairy. Leaves imparipinnate; leaflets subsessile, crenate-serrate, oblong, ellipitc or oblong-lanceolate, obtuse or retuse. Inflorescence an axillary and terminal much branched panicle. Flowers bisexual or unisexual, short pedicelled. Calyx 5 toothed; teeth triangular, valvate. Petals 5, inserted on the calyx tube, valvate, finally recurved. Stamens 10, free, inserted in the notches of the disc, equal; anthers oblong-ovate. Disc with 10 notches, lining the receptacle. Ovary sessile or shortly stipitate, locules 4-5. Fruit fleshy, globose with l-5 small, bony and furrowed 1-seeded pyrenes. Seed with a membra¬nous covering.
