Medium sized evergreen trees. Leaves subopposite to opposite; imparipinnate. Flowers on long peduncled panicles. Calyx campanulate, 2-5-lobed. Corolla 2-lipped, 5-lobed. Stamens 4. Disk present. Fruit indehiscent, cylindrical, very large and gourd-like. Seeds wingless, embedded in pulp.
A monotypic genus. Tropical Africa.
