Annual to perennial erect herbs with resin canals, stem winged, wings entire or deeply incised. Leaves dentate, long decurrent, hairy, sessile or petiolate. Capitula few to many, terminal in large open leafy panicles, disciform. Involucre campanulate; phyllaries 7-8-seriate, imbricate narrow, usually squarrose. Receptacle naked. Marginal florets female, filiform, many, disc florets bisexual, few, tubular. Corolla pink or mauve. Anthers with sagittate bases, ecaudate. Cypselas oblong-ellipsoid, sparsely hairy with straight hairs; pappus uniseriate, setae barbellate.

A small genus with about 17 species, distributed in tropical Africa, Arabia and Asia. Represented in Pakistan by the following species.
