Spiny trees. Leaves spirally arranged; leaflets opposite, pellucid, imparipinnate. Petioles winged. Flowers polygamous, in panicles, 4-(5)-6-merous. Calyx segments ovate. Petals oblong to narrow-obovate. Stamens 10-12. Style absent, stigma fusiform. Fruit a berry; rind thick and hard; seeds many.

Distributed from Punjab eastwards and southwards to Sri Lanka; W. Hima¬layas, Java. One species is found in Pakistan.
