Annual, low-growing, basally branched herb. Leaves pinnatisect, segments linear. Capitula hetero- or homogamous, solitary on long peduncles. Involucre tirbinate, phyllaries 2-3-seriate, imbricate. Receptacle hemispherical or conical, glabrous or epaleate. Ray-florets female, with white ligule. Disc-florets yellow or pinkish-white, tubular, tube constricted in the middle, 5-dentate; anthers with ovate-acuminate conspicuous appendages. Cypselas ventrally 3-5-costate, beset with scales or mucilaginous hairs. Pappus membranous, oblique, laciniate or irregularly dissected.
A small genus of c. 4 species, distributed in Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan; represented by the following species in our area.
