Small perennials. Leaves opposite or ± whorled, petiolate. Flower solitary, terminal, white. Sepals and petals 5. Filaments subulate; anther pores at the end of long tubes. Style not curved; stigma prominent. Disc present. Capsule globose.

A monotypic genus in the N. temperate and the Arctic regions.
