Annual, erect, branched herbs, hairy with simple and branched hairs, especially below. Cauline leaves auricled, amplexicaul, oblong-lanceolate, entire to toothed, pubescent. Racemes ebracteate, corymbose, elongating in fruit. Flowers small, yellow; pedicel filiform, spreading or ascending, elongated in fruit (much longer than siliculae). Sepals not saccate at base. Petals about twice as long as the sepals, spathulate. Stamens 6; filaments linear; anthers short, ovoid, blunt. Lateral nectar glands in fused pairs, each semilunar with a short basal process; middle absent. Ovary globose, 4-ovuled, with about an equally long style ending in short capitate, stigma. Siliculae, subglobose bilocular, indehiscent, 1-seeded, wrinkled, readily falling when ripe; style thin, rigid up to about half as long (or less) as the silicula, persistent; septum membranous, somewhat rigid, not veined; seed 1, suborbicular, brown; radicle incumbent.

2 species in Europe and Asia; only 1 in our area.
