Aromatic annuals with simple eglandular hairs. Stems erect, little branched. Leaves undivided, large, broadly ovate, crenate to serrulate, longpetiolate. Inflorescence of terminal and lateral many-flowered spike-like racemes, arising from axils of upper leaves; verticillasters 2-flowered. Bracts longer than pedicels. Flowers ± secund. Calyx indistinctly bilabiate in flower, small, campanulate, 5-toothed, greatly enlarging in fruit and somewhat gibbous basally. Corolla small, white, bilabiate, indistinctly 5-lobed, soon deciduous; tube squat, villous at throat, ± included in calyx. Stamens 4, projecting straight forward; thecae bilocular, diverging. Ovary with a prominent lateral gland on disc. Nutlets 4, globose with a prominent raised reticulum.
Probably monotypic.
