Perennial, glabrous herb with woody stock. Stems ascending. Leaves alternate; stipules scarious. Inflorescence corymbose-cymose. Sepals 5, with margins. Petals 5, entire. Stamens 5, hypogynous. Styles 3. Ovary 3-angled. Capsule pyramidal, dehiscing by 3 valves. Seeds subreniform.

A genus of 6 species distributed mainly in the Mediterranean region. species is found in Madagascar. Represented in Pakistan by a single species. The genus has been placed in Molluginaceae by some authors.
