Glossopholis Pierre
Evergreen robust climbing dioecious or polygamous shrubs. Leaves simple, petiolate, entire and penninerved. Male flowers: sepals 6, 2-seriate, outer 3, much smaller, fleshy or coriaceous; petals 6, minute, cuneate; stamens 6, filaments subcylindric, anthers adnate, introrse, dehiscing longitudinally. Female flowers: carpels 6-30, borne on a gynophore, style short subulate. Drupe obovoid, stipitate, compressed, style scar sub-basal. Seeds uncinate, albumen ruminate.
A genus of c. 25 tropical African and Indomalaysian species. Represented by 1 cultivated species in Pakistan.
